Last season’s MLS Cup runners-up Seattle Sounders picked up their first point of the campaign at Sporting Kansas City last weekend and should build on that at home to a misfiring Minnesota.

It has been a slow start to the season for Sounders, who claimed only a draw from their opening four matches, but a visit from Minnesota looks the perfect chance to get back on track.

Seattle had failed to score in their opening three games but their latest 2-2 draw at Western Conference leaders Kansas was a step in the right direction and they should take plenty of positives from their performance given the table-toppers have since followed up with a 6-0 demolition of Vancouver Whitecaps.

Ill-discipline has been Seattle’s biggest downfall - they have had a man sent off in all three of their defeats and must keep their cool if things turn against them.

However, whether Minnesota are good enough to frustrate the Sounders remains to be seen and an easier match is forecasted for the hosts.

The visitors have conceded three on trips to New York Red Bulls and Portland Timbers already this season and need to improve defensively if they are to figure in the playoff picture.

Clint Dempsey’s return from suspension will boost Seattle and they can silence Minnesota, who have lost three on the spin.

Recommendation
Seattle -1 goal on handicap
