Preview

Hearts, Dundee United and Ayr are already assured of their place in the next round of the Scottish League Cup, but there is still plenty to play for in the final set of group stage fixtures this weekend.

Kilmarnock face a battle to qualify from Group G after they were stripped of their win over East Kilbride for fielding an ineligible player.

They were awarded a 3-0 defeat, which has also had a negative impact on Killie's goal difference. However, that negative could turn into a positive as Tommy Wright's side are forced to go on the front foot at home to table-topping Stranraer. A win against the Blues is crucial and by a few goals too.

Killie were impressive against East Kilbride, and despite only drawing 1-1 against Morton on Tuesday, they totally dominated that contest.

Stranraer are top of the section courtesy of an awarded 3-0 win over Morton and a narrow 1-0 victory against East Kilbride, when they lost the shot count 15-11.

Kilmarnock are being asked to give the Blues a 1.5-goal start on the Asian handicap and given Killie's motivation for a resounding victory that looks worth a punt.

Raith have given themselves an excellent chance of qualification, even after their unfortunate penalty defeat to Livingston on Wednesday, and they are unlikely to slip up against Alloa.

The Rovers competed well against top-flight operators Livi earlier this week and prior to that they hammered Brechin 4-0.

Only promoted sides Hearts and Dundee scored more home goals than Raith in the Championship last season and they should be far too strong for the Wasps.
