Neil Mellor: "Don't write off Liverpool's attack"

Neil Mellor has tipped his former club Liverpool to come out all guns blazing against Sheffield United as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of losing last week's Merseyside derby at home to Everton.

Mellor, who was a guest on the Racing Post's YouTube football show Different League in association with Betfred, said: "There's talk of Liverpool missing out on the Champions League and that will only grow if they don't beat Sheffield United.

"However, there are positives with Diogo Jota, Naby Keita and Fabinho all closing in on returns and they will have had a whole week to prepare for the trip to Bramall Lane.

"Don't write off this attack. They didn't take their chances against Everton but the freshness could be key. I believe they will win the game and there will be over 3.5 goals too because the Blades will always have a go."

In terms of the issues this season, Mellor reckons the injuries will have been too much for any side to overcome.

"Liverpool have used 18 different partnerships at centre-back and any side would struggle with such defensive disruption, which has also had a knock-on effect in midfield," he added.
