Aldershot in a downward spiral

Aldershot manager Gary Waddock

Time is running out for Aldershot who are eight points from safety in the National League and without a home win since November, which is likely to continue when they take on Salford.

After a run of five games without victory, the Ammies have bounced back to win their last three and rejuvenate hopes of automatic promotion.

They will be full of confidence after defeating highflyers Solihull last week and the fact Aldershot have shipped at least two goals in each of their last five matches at the Recreation Ground indicates that Gary Waddock’s side could be in for a long afternoon.

Sutton have had a tough time lately with five losses in their last seven, and visitors Gateshead look overpriced to add to their misery.

The Surrey side were looking like post-season candidates last month but they have slipped down to ninth while Gateshead have sneaked under the radar and are just one point outside the playoff positions.

They have one of the best away records in the league, and can show why when they travel to Gander Green Lane.

Barnet could also struggle at home, and although they have multiple games in hand they are 19th and have won just one of their last seven league matches.

Hartlepool have hit a purple patch since January, steering well clear of the relegation zone while scoring eight goals in their last four on the road. They can cause the Bees further problems at the Hive.
