Michael Appleton favourite to be next West Brom manager
Alan Pardew leaves Premier League strugglers
Michael Appleton is the bookmakers' favourite to become West Brom's next permanent manager after Alan Pardew departed with the club rock-bottom of the Premier League.
Appleton, currently on the coaching staff at Leicester, is as short as 2-1 to fill the Hawthorns vacancy, although Hills are offering 5-1 in an otherwise wide-open heat which is 10-1 bar the favourite.
Marco Silva and Nigel Pearson are both rated 10-1 to replace Pardew on a permanent basis with Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill rated a 12-1 shot. Dean Smith ranges from 11-2 to 14-1 and Wigan boss Paul Cook is as big as 12-1 but only 100-30 in places.
Pardew left West Brom with Albion 1-500 to be relegated and ten points from safety with only six matches remaining.
A season in the Sky Bet Championship looks almost certain next term and the next manager has already been warned there will be no lavish spending in to help them come back up at the first attempt.
