Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley.

The victory was more impressive than the scoreline suggested with the Reds spurning many opportunities to put the game to bed in the second half.

The result kick-started a great day for favourite-backers as all of the market fancies in the top-flight fixtures did the business.

Gini Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino put Liverpool in full control at Wembley before Erik Lamela grabbed a consolation goal for Spurs late in added time.

Jurgen Klopp's men are second in the Premier League, 5-2 with bet365 to win their first league title since 1990 and 1-25 with Sky Bet to finish in the top four.

Chelsea also made it five wins from five and leapfrogged the Reds into top spot on goal difference with their 4-1 win over Cardiff at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard bagged a hat-trick and Willian also scored for the Blues, who had to recover from the shock of going behind to Sol Bamba's opener. The Bluebirds were 20-1 shots for victory.

Chelsea are 10-1 third favourites with Sky Bet for the title and 2-7 to finish in the top four. Cardiff have taken just two points from their opening five games and are 4-11 favourites with Sky Bet for relegation.

Manchester City are 8-11 favourites to retain the title after making short work of Fulham with a 3-0 win at the Etihad.

Leroy Sane, David Silva and Raheem Sterling got the goals for the champions, who justified match odds of 2-15.

Bournemouth beat Leicester 4-2, Crystal Palace won 1-0 at Huddersfield and Arsenal got the better of Newcastle 2-1 at St James' Park.

Manchester United rounded off the day in style for favourite-backers as they did the business with a 2-1 win at Watford in the late kick-off.
