Liverpool and Chelsea maintained their perfect starts to the Premier League season on Saturday but they were made to work hard for their victories over Leicester and Bournemouth.

The Reds, who head the table on goal difference, looked to be cruising after first-half goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at the King Power Stadium, but a mistake from goalkeeper Alisson presented the Foxes with a way back into the game.

However, Jurgen Klopp's side held on for their second away win of the season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea had to wait until the 72nd minute for Pedro's breakthrough goal against the Cherries and they ensured Maurizio Sarri's perfect start to life at Stamford Bridge would be extended with a second from Eden Hazard.

Manchester City are in third place after a 2-1 home win over Newcastle.

Crystal Palace were shocked by the omission of star forward Wilfried Zaha as they fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Southampton, who had been 16-5 to claim three points at Selhurst Park.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson revealed that the Ivory Coast international suffered a groin strain in training and could be out of action for a month.

Everton were held to a 1-1 draw by 7-1 shots Huddersfield, Brighton needed two goals from Glenn Murray to battle back and earn a point at home to Fulham, while there was more gloom at West Ham as they were sunk by a last-gasp Wolves goal from Adama Traore.

The Hammers are still looking for their first point under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

It is the first Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday and Parkhead and Hills anticipate a feisty affair between the teams managed by ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and his former Anfield captain Steven Gerrard.

They offer just 6-4 that there will be a red card in the match - there have been two Glasgow derby dismissals since the Gers re-entered the Ladbrokes Premiership in 2016 and a total of at least seven yellow cards is 11-10.
