Premier League market leaders Liverpool and Manchester City continued to ratchet up the pressure on their title rivals by cruising to victories over Southampton and Cardiff.

Liverpool eased to a 3-0 home win over Saints and set a new club record of seven straight wins at the start of a campaign.

The Reds returned to the top of the table but they are just two points above City, who thumped Cardiff 5-0 in the Welsh capital.

Despite City's convincing win, they were eased from 8-11 to 4-5 in the title betting while Liverpool were trimmed from 9-4 to 2-1.

Sergio Aguero celebrated signing a new contract by netting City's opening goal, taking his league tally to four, and was cut to 9-4 from 3-1 in bet365's top goalscorer betting.

Cardiff's defeat leaves them joint-bottom alongside Huddersfield, who lost 3-1 at Leicester.

The Bluebirds have trips to Tottenham and Liverpool on their October schedule which may explain why Neil Warnock is Paddy Power's 7-2 favourite to be the next manager to lose his job.

Jose Mourinho is the 11-2 second favourite after his Manchester United side drew 1-1 at home to Wolves.

A second-half Joao Moutinho goal earned a point for Wolves and extended their unbeaten run to five games.

United are eight points adrift of leaders Liverpool and have eased from 33-1 to 40-1 in the title betting.

Burnley climbed out of the relegation zone with a 4-0 victory at home to Bournemouth.

It was a first win in 11 league games for the Clarets, who face vital matches away to Cardiff and at home to Huddersfield before the next international break.

Watford stayed fourth after drawing 1-1 at Fulham and Newcastle's winless run extended to six games after a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
