Match previews

A lack of consistency has left Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim at risk of missing out on their Bundesliga objectives this season but they can at least provide their fans with some entertainment when they clash at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund's defeat to Freiburg last time out was their third loss in four matches and they are currently outside the Champions League places in Germany's top flight.

As for Hoffenheim, they are only five points clear of the drop zone, having lost ten of their 20 league assignments this season, including 3-1 and 4-1 defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich in their previous two contests.

Neither side therefore make great appeal in the match result market and with two of the division's most prolific forwards - Erling Haaland and Andrej Kramaric - on display, goals could be the way to go.

Both teams have scored in 14 of Hoffenheim's 20 league matches this season while four of Dortmund's last seven matches have featured over 3.5 goals.

Defenders Kevin Akpoguma, Ermin Bicakcic and Benjamin Hubner are all out for Hoffenheim while Dortmund are without Thomas Meunier and veteran Lukasz Piszczek so over 3.5 goals could represent value.

Real Sociedad have fallen out of the race for Champions League football in Spain but, fresh from their 4-1 thumping of Cadiz, they can get the better of out-of-sorts Getafe.

Alexander Isak and Mikel Oyarzabal continue to impress for the Basque outfit and their quality in the final third could prove to be the difference between them and Getafe this weekend.

Getafe failed to score in matches with lowly Real Valladolid and Alaves as well as Cordoba in January and they were toothless in recent affairs with Sevilla and Real Madrid, failing to record a shot on target in either of those games. They are worth opposing.

Having been knocked out of the French Cup by Angers in midweek, Rennes can now concentrate fully on Ligue 1 and though a Champions League berth looks out of reach, they can qualify for the inaugural season of the Europa Conference League.

They are nestled in fifth spot with only five defeats from their 23 league assignments in 2020-21 and should be fancied to get the better of lowly Saint-Etienne, who have managed only three wins from 12 away games this season.

Lazio cultivated a reputation for being a patchy side in Serie A last season when a run of 21 matches unbeaten put them in contention for the Scudetto.

And although the Rome club are unlikely to push for the title this season, their streak of six successive wins has ignited their hopes of a Champions League berth.

After beating Fiorentina, Parma, Roma, Sassuolo, Atalanta and Cagliari, Lazio look a solid selection in the draw-no-bet market against Inter, who could be a touch fatigued after their hard-fought Coppa Italia contest with Juventus in midweek.
