FAI Cup preview

The FAI Cup quarter-finals and a key League of Ireland Premier Division clash are the highlights this weekend.

Waterford have thrived under Marc Bircham and are lively outsiders for the cup this year, although they have to overcome UCD who are second in the First Division. However, the college side often find themselves bullied out of it against strong opposition such as the Blues.

The Premier Division is of a much stronger standard than Division One, even if UCD did beat Longford in the last round. With home advantage of little help to the hosts, back Waterford with the draw no bet at 8-11.

Dundalk's league form has fallen off a cliff but they will be giving it their absolute all in the cup and can beat Finn Harps on Friday.

Dundalk were decent for much of their midweek game against Sligo and, with Will Seymour out for Harps, they should see plenty of the ball.

Elsewhere, Bohemians and St Patrick's should progress, although Wexford are no pushovers for Saints.

On Saturday, Sligo Rovers host Shamrock Rovers, who look well on course retain their Premier Division title. The odds look about right.
