Latvian Higher League
Thursday 6pm

A six-point gap has opened up at the top of the Latvian Higher League but there’s still fierce competition when it comes to the Europa League qualifying spots and two sides eyeing European places, FK Riga and Ventspils, can play out a high-scoring affair.

The game sees fifth host third in the Latvian top flight and the home side head into the match in good form, having lost just one of their last six matches, keeping clean sheets in their last two.

Visitors Ventspils meanwhile go into the vital clash following their first defeat of the season, to second-placed Spartaks Jurmala, but they will be keen to get points on the board given they have a visit to formidable league leaders RFS to come in their next game.

With the stakes high, a tentative affair would ordinarily be expected to unfold but both sides have strength in their attacking armouries.

Riga have netted 12 goals in their last six matches, including a 6-1 hammering of rock-bottom Valmieras.

Ventspils meanwhile have drawn a blank in just one league game this season and have the young duo of Adeleke Akinyemi and Tosin Aiyegun, who have seven league goals between them this year, to call upon in the final third.

Recommendation
Over 2.5 goals
