Burnley's eight-match unbeaten sequence came to an end when they were beaten 3-0 at Manchester City last time out but they have a great chance to get back to winning ways when facing Newcastle at Turf Moor.

Home victories have been harder to come by for the Clarets this season but their tally of 13 points from nine games is an excellent return for a club who have already played away fixtures at Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and City.

The Clarets showed their resilient side in each of those away matches, including the contest at City where they trailed 1-0 with less than 20 minutes left on the clock.

It has become expected that Burnley will be well organised and hard to beat under Sean Dyche but they need to show a bit more attacking intent if they are to start racking up wins in Lancashire.

Chris Wood was brought in to pep up the forward line and made a very solid start, scoring in four of his first nine appearances.

But the New Zealander is a doubt for the Newcastle game after picking up a hamstring strain in the early stages of the defeat at City.

Losing Wood would be a blow but Dyche may have the option of recalling Sam Vokes, who is back in training after recovering from an abdominal strain.

Either way the Burnley approach will be pretty standard – get some decent deliveries into the big centre-forward and look to feed off the scraps.

Newcastle will know what's coming but may find it hard to avoid getting dragged into the type of game Burnley want to play.

The Magpies have had several winnable away fixtures in the first few months of the season and have had mixed fortunes.

Rafa Benitez's men played some good football in a 2-2 draw at Southampton last weekend and were 1-0 winners at Swansea in early September.

But they struggled in scrappy matches at Huddersfield and Brighton, losing 2-0 and 1-0.

Owner Mike Ashley recently announced his intentions to sell up but his mindset was clear in the summer when Newcastle failed to make any major splashes in the transfer market.

They are still largely reliant on the players who won them promotion and it is a testament to Benitez's coaching skills that they have started so solidly, taking 14 points from a possible 27.

Burnley and Newcastle have been punching above their weight in the early months of the season and it is to their credit that each goes into the game with a shot at climbing into the top six.

However, neither club is destined for European football in the near future and both will be more focused on extending the gap to the drop zone.

They are very well-matched sides but the onus is on Burnley, as the home team, to push for the victory and they look a shade overpriced on the draw no bet.
