Friday's Football Bet of the Day

Sweden to win

Slovenia vs Sweden
World Cup qualifying Group B, 7.45pm Friday

Sweden have had a long wait for their first competitive international of 2025 but they should mark the occasion in style with a World Cup qualifying win in Slovenia on Friday.

The Swedes lost 1-0 to Luxembourg in an international friendly in March before beating Northern Ireland 5-1, Hungary 2-0 and Algeria 4-3 in three subsequent friendly fixtures.

They were too hot to handle in Nations League Group C1, scoring 19 goals in six games against Slovakia, Estonia and Azerbaijan to seal promotion to League B.

Liverpool's Alexander Isak may not be fit enough to start against Slovenia but Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres and Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga should be in the 11.

While Sweden are in fabulous goalscoring form, hosts Slovenia have found the net only four times in four games this year and they suffered 3-0 and 4-1 defeats to Norway during a disappointing Nations League campaign.
