Belgium vs Wales predictions
Wales are unbeaten in their nine matches under manager Craig Bellamy, and the former firebrand striker has vowed that the Dragons will go on the attack when they visit top seeds Belgium in Monday's crucial World Cup qualifier.
In his pre-match press conference, the ex-Liverpool striker vowed, "I’m not sitting back. It’s not in my make-up. I can’t do it; I don’t want to do it."
Bellamy’s men could be taking on the Red Devils at the perfect time, too – the hosts were held to a 1-1 draw by North Macedonia on Friday and have won just one of their last eight games.
Rudi Garcia is the latest manager tasked with getting something from a Belgium squad firmly in transition after the demise of their golden generation.
The home side have lost to Israel, Ukraine, and Slovakia in the last 12 months, and they look vulnerable against a Welsh side playing with a newfound intensity under Bellamy.
After working closely with Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany when the former Belgium captain was in charge at Burnley, the Wales boss has adopted a similarly aggressive style of play to his former teammate.
The Dragons have reaped the rewards of that approach, going unbeaten in their Nations League campaign and currently topping their World Cup qualifying group after taking seven points from their first three matches.
This is the biggest test that Wales have faced since Bellamy’s arrival, but they did hold Turkey to a pair of draws and could serve it up to a Belgian team struggling for an identity.
Both teams have scored in the last five meetings between these two, and that bet looks likely to land again in Brussels.
A chance is also taken on Wales to extend their unbeaten run under Bellamy. They can take a big step towards World Cup qualification by avoiding defeat.
