Team news

England
Gareth Southgate is set to shuffle his pack with Wednesday's trip to Poland in mind so Harry Kane, Harry Maguire, Raheem Sterling and Declan Rice are likely to be rested. Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United due to a minor injury.

Andorra
Marc Pujol and Jordi Alaez are suspended. After playing a 4-4-2 formation in the win over San Marino, coach Koldo Alvarez is expected to revert to 5-4-1 at Wembley.

Match preview

England return to Wembley for their first fixture since their penalty-shootout defeat to Italy in the final of Euro 2020 and manager Gareth Southgate will be expecting a slightly less tense evening against Andorra.

On Thursday, Southgate's side produced a devastating second-half performance in a hostile atmosphere to see off Hungary 4-0 in Budapest.

That result extended their perfect start to the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign, following wins over San Marino (5-0), Albania (2-0) and Poland (2-1) in March.

England are 1-50 to make it five victories out of five against Andorra, despite the fact that Southgate will be keen to rotate his squad as he prepares for Wednesday's trip to Poland – the toughest fixture in the group.

The depth of talent in the home squad means even a much-changed starting 11 should be far too strong for Andorra.

Tyrone Mings proved an able understudy for Harry Maguire at the start of Euro 2020, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier are classy full-back options while Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and brilliant Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham may come in for Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips in midfield.

Phillips's Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford could be set for an international debut after scoring 18 goals in 40 Premier League starts in the last two seasons and he is just 1-3 with Coral to find the net at any time.

England won their two previous home qualifiers against Andorra 5-0 in 2006 and 6-0 in 2009 although both away games during those campaigns were goalless at half-time before the Three Lions completed 3-0 and 2-0 victories.

Andorra's defenders arrive at Wembley in good heart following back-to-back clean sheets, albeit in a goalless home draw with Gibraltar and Thursday's 2-0 win over San Marino.

Koldo Alvarez's side lost 1-0 to Albania, 3-0 in Poland and 4-1 at home to Hungary in their first three World Cup qualifiers although they sustained some heavier defeats at the end of last year, losing 5-0 to Latvia in the Nations League and 7-0 in a friendly in Portugal (where Cristiano Ronaldo scored the all-important sixth goal in the 85th minute).

Southgate will be conscious of easing his players' workloads after the Euros and the start of the domestic season so England are unlikely to display Ronaldo-esque levels of ruthlessness against the minnows.

They were 4-0 up after 53 minutes of the 5-0 win over San Marino and the 7-1 about another 5-0 triumph at Wembley is worth a bet.

Key stat

Andorra have lost their last four away games by an aggregate score of 15-1.
