Women's Super League tips, league winner predictions and analysis for the 2021-22 season.

The 2021-22 season marks the beginning of a new era for the Women’s Super League with the start of a new landmark broadcasting contract.

The three-year deal will see 66 games shown live on the BBC and Sky this season, beginning with Friday's clash between Manchester United and Reading.

Here is a run down of how the table could look come the end of what promises to be a fascinating season.

Chelsea to win the Women's Super League
3pts Evs bet365

1. Chelsea

The 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final was a hard pill to swallow for Chelsea last season but in the Women's Super League they rose to the top with 18 wins from 22 matches.

Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby netted a combined 37 WSL goals last term and remain at the club while forward Lauren James and ball-playing defender Aniek Nouwen are both top signings.

Emma Hayes is still in the dugout and, although European glory may continue to elude them, Chelsea once again look better than the rest domestically.

2. Arsenal

Coach Joe Montemurro has departed and under his replacement Jonas Eidevall Arsenal could enjoy an excellent campaign.

The Gunners looked sharper in the second half of last season, going unbeaten from February onwards to secure third spot, and they have added Champions League winner Nikita Parris as well as tricky forward Mana Iwabuchi to their ranks over the summer.

Vivianne Miedema remains and in the final year of her current contract, she can spearhead the team's push for a top-two berth.

3. Manchester City

Manchester City fell only a place and two points short of top spot last season and are rated 15-8 to go one further this term.

But they underperformed in big games with Chelsea last season and have lost two key players in North Carolina Courage-bound Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle, who has gone to OL Reign.

Vicky Losada is a great acquisition from Barcelona in midfield but Arsenal have had the better transfer window and could pip them to second.

4. Manchester United

Manchester United collapsed in the second half of last season to miss out on a Champions League spot and with Christen Press and Tobin Heath having left and manager Casey Stoney resigning, they look unlikely to better their fourth-placed finish.

5. Everton

Everton have worked hard in the transfer window this summer to ensure they improve on last season's fifth-placed berth but they may have to settle for a place outside the top four again.

Toni Duggan is a great buy but key player Valerie Gauvin's absence through injury will not do them any favours.

6. Tottenham

Alex Morgan did not stay with Tottenham for long and the absence of a top forward could hinder their progress this term.

Canadian Shelina Zadorsky remains important at the back, though, and can help Spurs make the top six.

7. West Ham

Now the group have adjusted to manager Olli Harder after a challenging first season, West Ham, who will be looking to talent Claudia Walker for goals, can earn a respectable mid-table position in the WSL.

8. Brighton

Brighton arguably overachieved with their sixth-placed finish last term but should go well again under Hope Powell, who has drafted in goalscorer Danielle Carter. A lack of defensive recruitments could hold them back.

9. Leicester

The additions of former Manchester United duo Jess Sigsworth and Abbie McManus coupled with the fact they will be playing most of their matches at the King Power Stadium this term means newly promoted Leicester could look well at home in the WSL.

10. Reading

Natasha Dowie represents a great piece of business but there is no ignoring the fact Reading will miss the former heartbeat of their team Fara Williams, who retired this summer, and they may fall short of their accustomed mid-table finish.

11. Aston Villa

New manager Carla Ward excelled despite testing conditions at Birmingham last season and she could prove invaluable in Aston Villa's pursuit of survival.

12. Birmingham

Scott Booth is as good a managerial appointment as Birmingham could have hoped for but the loss of former boss Ward is a big blow.

They have been busy this summer with eight new players coming in but the process feels rushed and last season's 11th-placed side could face the drop.
