Match preview

The WSL weekend features a number of intriguing clashes between sides in the bottom half of the table, starting with Aston Villa and Reading on Saturday lunchtime.

The Royals have endured a terrible run of fixtures, facing four of the top five teams in their last four games.

Their sights are lowered against an Aston Villa side who have been playing well in defeat recently, losing 1-0 for the third match in a row last time out to Chelsea courtesy of an injury-time Sam Kerr winner.

Goals have been an issue for the Villans all season and they are tied with bottom side Birmingham as the lowest scorers in the division with 11.

Reading have been better in that department but have still netted only twice in their last six games in all competitions so this could well be a cagey affair.

The North London derby scheduled to take place at the Emirates on Saturday has been postponed after a Covid outbreak in the Tottenham squad.

As a result Chelsea can go top with a win over strugglers Leicester on Sunday while top-three chasers Manchester United and Manchester City host Everton and Birmingham while West Ham face off against Brighton.
