Manchester City have made a miserable start to the new Women's Super League season with three defeats in their opening four games and things could go from bad to worse when they face rivals Manchester United this weekend.

City, who lost midfielders Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis to OL Reign and North Carolina Courage this summer, have lost their last three games against Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham by an aggregate scoreline of 9-1.

They simply don't appear to be able to get going which doesn't bode well for Saturday's clash with the Red Devils, who have lost only one of their first four games and that was against champions Chelsea.

United have defeated Reading, Leicester and Birmingham this season and can add City to their list of scalps on Saturday.

Rampant Chelsea, meanwhile, are 1-33 to beat Leicester on Sunday and given they have already netted 15 goals in four Super League outings, it is hard to see anything but a thrashing.

The best approach could be to back Sam Kerr to break the deadlock with the Australian international leading the Super League scoring charts with five goals, averaging one strike every 54 minutes.
