Australia

The Matildas have reached the quarter-finals in each of the last three World Cups and there is scope for them to do even better this time. Wins over the USA, Japan and Brazil at the Tournament of Nations two years ago will have boosted their confidence and their mix of youth and experience looks to be working well. However, a late change of manager for the tournament is not ideal.

Italy

This is the first time Le Azzurre have qualified for the final since 1999 but they booked their spot by winning seven of their eight qualifying matches. An improved league structure, boosted by the involvement of the top men's clubs, should mean they are on the upgrade and they could surprise a few.
Coach Milena Bertolini
Key player Barbara Bonansea

Brazil

The Copa America Femenina champions should be the strongest team from South America and they are set to adopt a positive approach, but they have lacked consistency in their friendly results against teams from outside their home continent. They have reached the group stage in each of the last five tournaments.
Coach Oswaldo Alvarez
Key player Marta

Jamaica

The Reggae Girlz are the first team from the Caribbean to qualify for the World Cup having beaten Panama in the North American confederation third-place playoff. They are ranked 53rd in the world so expectations will be low in what looks a tough group.
Coach Hue Menzies
Key player Khadija Shaw
