Match preview

Norwich have soared to the top of the Championship after three consecutive wins and they look excellent value to make that four with victory over an injury-hit Reading.

A Teemu Pukki brace provided the Canaries with a third straight 2-1 win at Blackburn on Saturday, after Daniel Farke's men had previously recorded home victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest by the same scoreline.

Norwich are blessed with some of the division's best attacking options and they appear to be meeting the Royals at the perfect time.

Reading's two leading marksmen Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite, who have scored 17 of their 28 league goals, are both sidelined for the remainder of the year which severely restricts the Royals in forward areas.

Norwich have the best away form in the division, having won four of their last five road fixtures, and they should enhance that record at the Madejski Stadium.

Match preview

Wayne Rooney has made Derby tougher to beat since taking temporary charge at Pride Park, but goals remain the big concern for the Rams and things are unlikely to change at home to Swansea.

Derby remain in the Championship’s bottom three despite piecing together a five-game unbeaten run, which is largely down to a lack of cutting edge.

The Rams have drawn four of those five matches - the last two with Brentford and Stoke finished goalless - and they have netted just three goals in seven games since Rooney was picked to oversee first-team preparations.

Derby have managed just eight goals in 18 league games this season and have not scored two or more in any of those outings.

And that doesn’t bode well against a third-placed Swansea outfit who boast the Championship’s meanest defence with just ten goals conceded in 18 games.

The Swans, like Derby, have also kept three straight league clean sheets and it is easy to envisage defences coming to the fore at Pride Park.
