England Under-21s are in a strong position at the halfway point of European Championship qualification, five points clear at the top of Group Four, but they have some tough games to come and are not certainties to see off second-placed Ukraine at Bramall Lane.

Ukraine's only loss in the group was a 2-0 reverse inflicted by England in Kiev last November.

But it was a closer game than the result suggests with Ukraine winning the shot count 13 to nine.

Ukraine have banked seven points from three away games in the group and followed up the loss to England with a 2-0 success over Scotland in Perth.

They are unbeaten in their last six competitive away matches and should have a strong line-up in Sheffield with head coach Oleksandr Holovko expecting to use some of the young players who were involved with the senior Ukraine squad for Friday's 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia.

Aidy Boothroyd's England warmed up with a 2-1 victory over Romania at Molineux on Saturday but they face a tough game and may have to settle for a point.
