Verdict

Wrexham are struggling in the lower reaches of the National League but they were the better side for much of their 0-0 draw at home to Rochdale in the FA Cup first round and should fancy their chances of winning the replay at Spotland.

Having to squeeze in an extra fixture is far from ideal for injury-hit Dale, who have already played five matches in November.

Rochdale manager Brian Barry-Murphy selected just one recognised defender for Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash at Coventry and watched his patched-up side slide to a 2-1 defeat.

Dale might be a little stronger for this match as experienced centre-back Paul McShane has a chance of playing.

However, Barry-Murphy will be wary of risking players who are not 100 per cent fit and is likely to have one eye on Saturday's league fixture at home to Portsmouth.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates is in a different position because his senior players have not featured since facing Rochdale nine days ago.

A second-string Wrexham side lost 2-0 away to Rangers Colts in a Scottish Challenge Cup quarter-final on Saturday but their first-choice players will return against Rochdale and they should deliver another competitive performance.

Another surprise result could be on the cards between Sky Bet League Two rivals Exeter and Cambridge in their replay at St James Park.

Exeter dominated the teams' 1-1 draw at the Abbey Stadium and are warm favourites to finish the job on home soil.

But the Grecians are dealing with an injury list described by manager Matt Taylor as the worst during his time in the hotseat.

Cambridge are likely to be facing a weaker line-up than in the first game and they may achieve a better result.
