Tuesday's EFL Trophy preview

Eighth-placed Bristol Rovers are 20 points worse off than leaders Plymouth in League One but they look a decent bet to make home advantage count in the EFL Trophy quarter-finals.

Joey Barton's Rovers are the fourth-highest scorers in the third tier with 42 goals, thanks largely to strikers Aaron Collins and Josh Coburn, who have league tallies of 13 and nine.

Collins and Coburn are a massive threat to Argyle, who may have one eye on Saturday's massive league fixture away to third-placed Ipswich.

Plymouth's squad was weakened last week when on-loan forward Morgan Whittaker returned to his parent club, Swansea.

Argyle missed Whittaker's goal threat when drawing 0-0 at Bolton on Saturday and they could struggle at the Memorial Ground.

League Two playoff-chasers Salford could spring a small surprise when taking on League One strugglers Cheltenham in their quarter-final in Gloucestershire.

The Ammies triumphed 1-0 at home to third-tier Port Vale in the round of 16 and can expose the Robins, who have lost their last two matches.
