Preview

Mark Robins said he cannot wait to get his Coventry players back out on to the pitch, not usually something you hear from a manager when the next match is an EFL Trophy tie.

The reason Robins is so keen to get back into action is because he is desperate to see his team make amends for Saturday's crushing 4-0 defeat at Rotherham.

Coventry's next encounter is an EFL Trophy trip to Forest Green, a fixture that wouldn't ordinarily perturb the Sky Blues' chief. However, following their weekend capitulation it now has added significance.

And even though Forest Green are going well, so are Coventry – or so were Coventry before their trip to South Yorkshire.

City were unbeaten in Sky Bet League One before the Rotherham reverse and while they have one or two injuries and centre-back Kyle McFadzean banned, Robins also has a big squad to work with and a lot of good youngsters to draft in.

Forest Green are top of League Two following their 3-1 win against Crawley and have kept ten clean sheets in 15 in all competitions, including against Charlton and Bournemouth in cup action.

However, Mark Cooper will also want to keep some powder dry for Saturday's big clash at Exeter which is occupying the thoughts of all at the Lawn.

Newcastle's Under-21s lost their group opener at Macclesfield and look doomed to another defeat at Shrewsbury.

The young Magpies had to draft in a trio of Under-18s for Saturday's win against Hull with injuries savaging boss Neil Redfearn's plans. They've lost five of their seven Premier League Two games.
