Saturday preview

Union have won the last four Berlin derbies and they look set to make it five in a row when they visit Hertha.

There could hardly be a bigger contrast between the pair - the home side are in a relegation battle while the visitors are just three points behind table toppers Bayern Munich.

Hertha were beaten 5-0 by Wolfsburg last time out and also have a mounting injury list, headlined by their star man Stevan Jovetic.

Union have dominated this fixture in recent years and they look a  solid proposition to continue that run.

Barcelona’s title credentials this season have tended to rely on their solid defensive record. They have conceded just six goals in 17 games, but Girona could cause them more issues than the prices suggest.

Both teams have scored in all but one of Girona’s nine home games in La Liga this season and they have consistently put up strong expected-goals tallies on home soil throughout the campaign.

By contrast Barca look due to regress to the mean from their expected goals-allowed tally of 13.6.

While the league-leaders should do enough to claim a win, Girona can get on the scoresheet in what looks a more competitive affair than it may first seem.

Third plays fourth in a crucial Ligue 1 clash in the race for the European places and Marseille and Monaco should put on a show when they do battle.

The visitors are the second-highest scorers in the division having netted 42 times in 19 games, and the hosts are no slouches either with 39 in the same number of matches.

Nine of their last 14 meetings between these teams have produced four or more goals.

Marseille got the better of their opponents in a 3-2 victory in the final game before the World Cup and back at home they will be confident of another success.

However, quotes of even money for the home side look short enough against a Monaco team who beat Ajaccio 7-1 last time out and have lost just once in nine away games this season.

The value option looks to be to opt for over 3.5 goals in an intriguing match between two of France’s best sides.
