Colorado finished the 2015 MLS season at the bottom of the Western Conference but the Rapids top the pile as the halfway stage of the 2016 campaign nears and they are expected to earn an Independence Day victory over the Portland Timbers tonight.

The Timbers were unlikely MLS Cup winners last season and despite keeping their squad together they have struggled to maintain their title-winning form.
