Sean Dyche can count himself unfortunate not to have been named manager of the season after guiding seventh-placed Burnley to their highest league position since 1974 and into Europe for the first time in more than 50 years.

It was an astonishing achievement, made more impressive after last summer's sale of Michael Keane to Everton and an early-season injury to goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Replacements James Tarkowski and Nick Pope, who will now be replaced by Heaton because of a shoulder injury, were capped by England as Dyche continued to defy logic and key performance indicators such as possession and shot data to earn a Europa League place.
