You should enjoy the final days of the calm before the storm because when the Premier League season starts on Friday, August 5, there will be few chances to pause for breath.

Those in Europe – the Premier League’s big six plus West Ham – could feel the pinch more than most and the Champions League quartet of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham must cope with the demands of a packed calendar.

It should be easier for Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham (assuming the Hammers qualify) in the Europa League and Conference League respectively to rest players for the European group campaigns which are three weeks shorter than usual, running from the first week of September until the opening days of November.
