Jurgen Klopp said in 2016: "Other clubs can go out and spend money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money."
Fast forward two years and Klopp has spent a fortune - more than any other Premier League club this summer - collecting top players as Liverpool have compiled a squad capable of challenging for major honours.
Alisson has arrived in a world-record deal for a goalkeeper, along with midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.
