Premier League first goalscorer predictions: Sterling trade may prove profitable

Best bets to break the deadlock in England's top flight

Raheem Sterling 5-1

Man City v Leeds 12.30pm Saturday

The Pep roulette that is guessing Manchester City's starting line-up is never easy but presumably Raheem Sterling will be in against Leeds after missing out against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

Sterling has gone off the boil and last notched at the Etihad in mid-January but Phil Foden's rise to prominence to take his spot may be the wake-up call he needs to get back to his best.

Joelinton 11-1

Burnley v Newcastle noon Sunday

The Brazilian misfit is seen as a bit of a joke figure, yet double-figure odds to open the scoring in a winnable game for Newcastle should be of some interest.

Joelinton scored the opener last week against Tottenham and is being deployed as the main central striker in the continued absence of Callum Wilson, who has sat out the last seven games.

Wilson is back in training but it would be a big risk to start him.

Nathan Redmond 10-1

West Brom v Southampton 6pm Monday

Nathan Redmond has been playing in a more advanced role for Southampton and has responded with three goals in his last two matches. Inconsistent Saints are not easy to nail down but they do possess a decent attacking punch with Redmond and Danny Ings.

Yerry Mina 30-1

Brighton v Everton 8pm Monday

Only West Ham (15) have scored more set-piece goals than Everton's 12 in this season's Premier League and only Sheffield United, with 11, and Leeds (15) have conceded more than Brighton's ten.

With that in mind it may pay to throw a dart at giant Toffees centre-back Yerry Mina at a big price to notch first against Albion.
