Jamie Vardy can get back to his best under new Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers
Foxes front man can improve Premier League goalscoring figures
When a striker's game is built around pace and agility, there is an inevitability their threat will diminish with age.
Jamie Vardy was far from his best under former Foxes boss Claude Puel, with just eight league goals prior to the Frenchman's axing, but the appointment of Brendan Rodgers offers the English forward the chance to rejuvenate his career.
At 32 and contracted at Leicester until 2022, Vardy is reaching the closing stage of his career and critics have been quick to say his best years are behind him.
But even with Rodgers merely in the vicinity of the King Power pitch in Leicester's game against Brighton, Vardy looked a more confident player, mustering four shots and the decisive goal against the Seagulls.
Rodgers knows how to get the best out of the attacking players at his disposal.
His 2016-17 treble-winning Celtic side scored 106 league goals and he is renowned for igniting the career of one of the world's fiercest strikers in Luis Suarez, who scored 31 goals under him at Liverpool in 2013-14.
Vardy is a Premier League winner with proven quality and, while Puel tried to make the Englishman adapt to his system, Rodgers' expansive set-up will cater to Leicester's creative outlets and, in doing so, provide Vardy with the service he is more than capable of capitalising on.
