Swansea City v Hull City

Jay Fulton

Swansea enjoyed a superb pre-season, winning all six of their friendly encounters, but the potential departure of a key forward hangs over the Welsh club going into their opener with Hull.

Oliver McBurnie looks set to leave the Sky Bet Championship side so is one to swerve in the goalscorer markets and punters may be best placed opting for an outsider to notch first in Jay Fulton.

The midfielder has been in prolific form in pre-season, scoring a hat-trick against Yeovil before getting on the scoresheet in a recent encounter with Bristol Rovers.

Wigan Athletic v Cardiff City

Bobby Reid

Cardiff City have plenty of work to do if they are to make an immediate return to the Premier League but they have a Championship veteran at the helm in Neil Warnock.

His side should chalk up a positive results against the Latics, who are among the favourites for relegation, and Bobby Reid looks value to draw first blood.

He was joint-top scorer for the Bluebirds last campaign with five Premier League strikes but was at his best when last in England's second tier with Bristol City, when he fired 19 goals in 46 matches.

Nottingham Forest v West Brom

Matt Phillips

West Brom's wide players ran amok in their two meetings with Nottingham Forest last season, with Matt Phillips and Jacob Murphy among the goalscorers in their two meetings, and the former could score first in this season's curtain-raiser.

Phillips scored five goals in all competitions for the Baggies in 2018-19 and has looked good in recent friendlies, bagging a brace in a 4-0 demolition of Scunthorpe United.

New addition Filip Krovinovic also scored in that match and with Slaven Bilic likely to place emphasis on West Brom's width this season, Phillips could prove a shrewd selection in this market.

Bristol City v Leeds United

Patrick Bamford

Marcelo Bielsa does not tend to hang around for long at clubs he has managed but he clearly thinks he has unfinished business at Elland Road and could get Leeds into the Premier League at the second time of asking.

An opening-weekend encounter with a strong Bristol City unit will test their mettle, especially with the likely absence of last term's top scorer Kemar Roofe through injury.

That makes Patrick Bamford, who reached double figures in all competitions last season, an even more enticing pick in a competitive heat to break the deadlock.
