Middlesbrough have made a decent start on their return to the top flight and they could claim a second win in three games when they travel to West Brom today.
Premier League survival is the primary objective for both clubs and they can concentrate on the league – at least until January – after being knocked out of the EFL Cup in midweek.
Rival managers Tony Pulis and Aitor Karanka are unlikely to be devastated by their sides’ defeats at Northampton and Fulham although losing after extra-time (in Boro’s case) and on penalties (for the Baggies) wasn’t ideal.
