Swansea set for the drop after Terriers secure their survival
Southampton 100-1 to lose Premier League status
Huddersfield are assured of Premier League survival with one game to spare after holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Laurent Depoitre's goal 50th-minute goal had given the Terriers a shock lead and Marcos Alonso's 62nd-minute equaliser was not enough to deny salvation for the away side as they climbed four points above third-bottom Swansea.
It meant all three promoted sides have stayed up for only the third time in the Premier League era.
Swansea are not quite mathematically relegated but they are three points behind fourth-bottom Southampton, whose goal difference is nine goals superior.
Saints will stay up if they secure at least a point at home to Manchester City on Sunday.
However, Southampton will be mindful of keeping their game tight, knowing even a narrow defeat would present a huge challenge to Swansea, who need to target a big win at home to relegated Stoke.
The chances of a remarkable turnaround are remote with Southampton 100-1 to go down and Swansea 1-500 to fall through the trap door.
Chelsea's draw with Huddersfield was great news for Tottenham, who guaranteed a top four finish and Champions League qualification with a nervy 1-0 victory at home to Newcastle.
The Blues could still finish fourth but would need to win at Newcastle on Sunday and hope that Liverpool lose at home to Brighton.
It looks a tall order for the Londoners, who are 18-1 for a top-four finish.
Manchester City set a new Premier League record points total by winning 3-1 at home to Brighton.
The Citizens need three more points to reach 100 and are odds-on to succeed when they take on Southampton.
Arsenal suffered their seventh successive away league defeat in 2018, going down 3-1 at Leicester.
