Superstar Salah should push De Bruyne for PFA Footballer of the Year

Five things we learned from the weekend

1 Mo's magic could deliver individual award
Kevin De Bruyne was a 1-5 shot to win the PFA Player of the Year award before this weekend's matches but Mohamed Salah's four-goals demolition of Watford has seen the Egyptian slashed to 7-4 to walk away with the award.

De Bruyne has been the best player for the soon-to-be champions Manchester City, yet Salah's goal contribution to Liverpool is nothing short of sensational.

He has scored 28 Premier League goals at an average of one every 85 minutes and is 9-4 from 10-1 with BoyleSports to break the Premier League goalscoring record for the season.

It's a tough ask to score seven goals in Liverpool's last seven matches but Salah is pretty much unstoppable at the moment.

2 Palace are too good to go down
Crystal Palace are a top-half team according to expected goal ratings and they showed that with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Huddersfield which should go some way to proving Roy Hodgson's men are too good to go down.

Palace's success ended a seven-match winless spell and coincided with a return to the starting 11 of the previously injured Wilfried Zaha and Mamadou Sakho.

Zaha brings a major attacking threat while Sakho adds steel to the defence and Hodgson's squad was further boosted by substitute appearances from Yohan Cabaye and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Eagles are only two points above the drop zone but have a favourable fixture list after next week's clash with Liverpool and should pull clear of trouble.

3 Bad vibes at Charlton
Charlton's poor spell continued with a 0-0 draw against Fleetwood, a result which makes it just one win in eight.

The fans remain unhappy with the ownership of the club and the players were booed off at the Valley while boss Karl Robinson received plenty of flak for recent performances.

Charlton face a potentially must-win home clash with Plymouth next week but will be without Josh Magennis and Ezri Konsa because of international duty, while Stephy Mavididi and Ahmed Kashi are injured. Chris Solly and Lewis Page are also doubts.

4 Accrington not feeling the pressure
Some bookmakers have finally seen enough of Accrington to make them favourites to win Sky Bet League Two - the leaders are three points of clear of Luton having played one match fewer.

Saturday's 3-1 victory over Forest Green showed Accy's nerves of steel and John Coleman's side continue to defy the odds, winning 12 of their last 14 matches since Boxing Day.

Stanley are not in action next weekend before a difficult Easter with fixtures against Mansfield and Notts County - if they come through that the ante-post 33-1 shots will be close to the title.

5 Bees not buzzing at the Hive
It's back to the bottom for Barnet, who were soundly beaten 2-0 by Wycombe on Saturday, and their lack of attacking intent has been evident in the last two matches at the Hive.

The Bees had just one shot on target in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Port Vale and they fired blanks in that department on Saturday, losing the efforts at goal stats 8-0.

They have played 176 minutes since their last shot on target and face a daunting task at Luton next time out.
