Preview

Augsburg v Dortmund

After their exits from the Europa League and German Cup, Borussia Dortmund's focus can turn solely to chasing Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.

Dortmund trailed the leaders by six points prior to Bayern’s game with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday so BVB can’t afford any slip-ups if they are to catch their rivals.

Marco Rose’s men conceded six goals across two legs of the Europa League tie with Rangers, again throwing into focus the defensive issues that have plagued them all season.

Both teams have scored in 13 of Dortmund’s last 16 Bundesliga away games and they face an Augsburg side who are fighting hard to preserve their top-flight status.

The net has bulged at both ends in five of the strugglers’ last six matches and the hosts can again get on the scoresheet, albeit Dortmund should ultimately prove too strong.

Bochum v Leipzig

After a terrible start to the season Leipzig have turned the corner since the Bundesliga winter break, winning six of their seven league games in 2022.

Christopher Nkunku has been their primary goal threat this season, scoring 22 in 32 starts in all competitions, and the Frenchman, who netted twice when his side last met Sunday opponents Bochum earlier in the season, and could add to his tally.

Lazio v Napoli

Napoli suffered disappointment at the hands of Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday but they can bounce straight back with a Serie A win at Lazio.

The Neapolitans have won nine of the last 11 meetings between the sides, which includes 4-0, 5-2 and 3-1 wins in the last two years.

Luciano Spalletti’s men are still in the race for the Scudetto and can take advantage of a Lazio team who have won just one of their last five games.
