Relegation-threatened Nacional have suffered six consecutive away defeats in Portugal and they look in serious danger of extending their losing sequence at Maritimo.

The struggling visitors are winless since mid-December in all competitions and have picked up just four points on their travels this season.

Finding the net has been the problem behind all problems and the White & Blacks have bagged just 16 goals this term – only draw specialists Belenenses and rock-bottom Tondela have notched fewer.

Nacional finished three places and three points above Maritimo last term but the hosts are much-improved this time around and are unbeaten in seven league matches.

Twenty points from their last eight home games have catapulted them into European contention and, if those aspirations remain a serious target, they need to beat Nacional.

The Madeira outfit have beaten Benfica and Braga, and held Sporting Lisbon to a draw, and they should relish the easier opposition.

Daniel Ramos’ men have kept three successive clean sheets, while Nacional have netted just twice in their last seven outings.
