Steaua can put up resistance as Pep is still finding his feet
Pep Guardiola’s first season at Camp Nou began with a Champions League qualifier and finished with Barcelona being crowned kings of Europe, so Manchester City fans will be hoping the Spaniard’s first term as their boss follows an identical path.
Back in 2008-09 Wisla Krakow were Barca’s playoff victims ahead of a campaign which culminated in the Spanish giants beating Manchester United 2-0 in Rome.
Tonight, the role of pre-group stage whipping boys falls to Steaua Bucharest, though they may represent more of an obstacle to City than Wisla did to Barca eight years ago.
