St Johnstone can bring Ross County's top-flight stay to an end

St Johnstone can end Ross County's six-year stay in the top flight of Scottish football with a win in Perth.

Saints have finally started getting an injury-ravaged squad back to full fitness and while it won't help them much this season, they have kicked on since the Ladbrokes Premiership split with a couple of impressive wins at Motherwell and Hamilton.

County must win and hope Partick don't prevail at Dundee for them to leapfrog the Jags into a playoff spot.

But they face a tough task at McDiarmid Park and they have given few indications this term they can raise their game when it really matters.

Saints will also hope to overtake Motherwell into seventh place in what has generally been a disappointing season for Tommy Wright's men, but they can end it on a high and send the Dingwall men down.

Stenhousemuir can return to Ladbrokes League One at the first time of asking by claiming at least a draw in the playoff final second leg at Peterhead.

Brown Ferguson's side overran the Blue Toon in the first leg on Wednesday at Ochilview.

The 2-0 win was richly deserved and should have been more even more emphatic. They played decent football and outplayed Jim McInally's side.

Peterhead have been made huge favourites to win the game, but Stenny have proved to be a jinx side for them this season - the midweek defeat was the fourth time in five meetings this term that the pre-season favourites have lost to them.

Stenny have also won all of their last four visits to Balmoor Stadium.
Worse still for Peterhead, their talisman goalscorer Rory McAllister, who missed a penalty on Wednesday, pulled a hamstring and is out.

Peterhead also have serious injury problems in defence and Stenny are in fine form having lost just once in their last ten games.

Cove Rangers were frustrated by Cowdenbeath last week in the Ladbrokes League Two playoff final first leg, but can make up for it this time at an appealing price.

The Aberdeen side were frustrated by a combination of poor finishing and a large slice of bad luck after they hit the woodwork.

That has persuaded bookies to make the Fifers strong favourites for the second leg at Central Park but it's hard to believe a side who rattled in 127 goals in the Highland League this season will be denied again by the Blue Brazil.

Playing away from home won't bother Cove - they have played every game away from home this season while their new Balmoral Stadium is built.

They've been written off and can end Cowdenbeath's 113-year stay in the Scottish League.
