Sporting Kansas City v Minnesota United
2.30am Thursday night

Sporting Kansas City host Minnesota United with their Major League Soccer playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

Sporting are tenth in the Western Conference, six points behind the last qualifying spot, and cannot afford to lose if they are to maintain hopes of progressing.

It won’t be an easy task as visitors Minnesota travel to Missouri full of confidence having lost only one of their last ten games, although that defeat came on their most recent away trip to Dallas.

Despite being second place in the Western Conference, Minnesota’s away form will be something of a concern for boss Adrian Heath. He has seen his side slip to seven defeats in their last ten away games, conceding a hefty 24 goals.

Former KC defender Ike Opara returns to face his former club with better memories of Children’s Mercy Park than most of his new colleagues as Minnesota have failed to bring back any points from their last three visits to the stadium.

Minnesota may also potentially have one eye on Tuesday’s US Open Cup final in Atlanta.

Although unlikely to force a win, Minnesota are worth backing to find the net in defeat. The Loons have scored an impressive seven goals in their last three MLS away games and with striking talent such as Darwin Quintero in their ranks it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them register.

Recommendation
Sporting Kansas City & both teams to score
