Solid Sporting could cause Deportivo further frustration

Deportivo have made a stuttering start to life back in the second tier of Spanish football and face another frustrating 90 minutes when they welcome Sporting Gijon to the Riazor.

Depor have taken five points from three games this season after relegation from La Liga, and their latest stalemate came at Tenerife last week when they were pegged back in the fourth minute of injury time having scored in the 92nd minute.

Those three games have all come on the road so a return to their Galician home will no doubt be a welcome relief, but the odds suggest this could be a tight encounter, which looks an accurate assessment.

Depor are 23-20 to begin their home campaign on a winning note but they would be unwise to take a solid Gijon unit lightly.

The Asturians have made a strong start to the season, gaining seven points from a possible nine, as they look to reclaim a place in La Liga which they last held in 2016-17.

The visitors are well drilled, especially at the back, and have enough going forward to take a point from their trip to the Riazor.
