Weekend preview

Hibernian are going through a pretty rough run of results, winning just one of their last six Scottish Premiership matches, but Lee Johnson’s side look excellent value to get back on track at home to Kilmarnock.

The Hibees were beaten 2-0 by Ross County on Tuesday night and that defeat told a familiar story for the Easter Road side. Hibs won the shot count 11-5 in midweek, and had 15 efforts on goals to Aberdeen’s six when losing 4-1 at Pittodrie prior to the Ross defeat.

Johnson’s men have won the shot count in four of their last five defeats and in terms of performance not a great deal has changed from the Hibs side who won four games on the bounce prior to their recent run of reversals.

Of course, Martin Boyle’s absence hasn’t helped the goalscoring output of the Hibees and the forward looks to have played his last game for the Leith outfit before the World Cup.

However, there is plenty of attacking talent left in the Hibs squad and they look a good bet to beat a Kilmarnock side who were hammered 4-0 by struggling Dundee United on Wednesday.

Hearts competed well when only losing 1-0 at Ibrox in midweek and the Jambos should have enough left in the tank to beat Livingston.

Robbie Neilson’s side have improved in recent weeks, with victories over Ross County and Motherwell and they are now free of any European commitments.

Livingston beat Aberdeen 2-1 on Tuesday, but they allowed 24 shots on goal and were under siege for almost the entire second half of that contest.
