Barrow and Braintree also deserve support

Kick-offs 3pm Saturday

Salford took their time adjusting to life in the National League but they have steadily climbed the table in recent weeks and can edge closer to the top by beating promotion rivals Boreham Wood at Moor Lane.

Before a ball was kicked there were expectations of Salford dominating the division but they started with two defeats and a draw in their opening three games.

However, Graham Alexander's side triumphed at the fourth attempt – winning 2-1 at home to Halifax – and have not looked back.

Last Saturday's 2-0 success at Bromley extended their unbeaten run to eight games.

It was Salford's fourth successive clean sheet and lifted them to fourth, only four points behind leaders Harrogate.

Boreham Wood must be respected, after climbing into seventh with a 4-0 success at Sutton on Tuesday.

But the Hertfordshire side have lost tricky away games at Wrexham and Leyton Orient earlier in the season and their trip to Salford is as tough as it gets.

Barrow are on a five-match winless run but are generally strong at home and look odds-against value to see off Maidenhead.

All of Barrow's three wins this season have come at Holker Street, although they showed resilience on the road to draw 1-1 at Boreham Wood last Saturday.

That result will have boosted Barrow's confidence and they can follow up against mid-table Maidenhead, who are missing suspended centre-back Ayo Obileye.

Braintree ended their long wait for a first win by beating Gateshead away 1-0 last Saturday and should be backed to follow up with a home victory over fellow strugglers Maidstone.

The Iron have lost a lot of tight games this season but they will be feeling a lot more confident and should appreciate taking on the sinking Stones, who have lost six games in succession.
