Relegation rivals Drogheda and Finn Harps set to produce dour clash
Basement boys Galway not without hope
Four games take place in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland over the weekend, all of major relevance to the battle to stay in the top flight.
Drogheda seem in major trouble, while Finn Harps are probably heading for relegation too, despite being fourth-last with games in hand. The pair clash at United Park.
Ciaran O'Connor's loan deal has expired so Harps need more goals, although Drogheda have been dire in that regard too. This looks unlikely to be much of a game and a small play on at least one of the teams not scoring is advised.
The betting is quite similar at Terryland, where basement boys Galway host Limerick. This looks hard to call but Galway probably deserve to be given at least a 50-50 chance – their home record is good – and they are a touch big as outsiders in the draw-no-bet market.
Former Crystal Palace and Ipswich midfielder Owen Garvan, still only 29, is set to make his debut for St Patrick's at Turner's Cross against runaway leaders Cork City on Sunday, a game that looks a bit of a formality for the hosts.
However, Pat's will create opportunities and are worth a pop at scoring, while Cork are near certainties to do so too. Christy Fagan will fancy his chance of scoring one at Turner's Cross, though his form has been patchy.
Derry host Sligo in Buncrana, having – like Cork – been in Europa League action on Thursday night. Sligo have lost Kieran Sadlier but will go to Donegal buoyed by their win over Shamrock Rovers.
There are some interesting games in Division One, Neale Fenn's Longford going to UCD among them.
