Having won just one of their last five matches, high-scoring Perugia can get back to winning ways against Salernitana, who are still not safe from the threat of relegation in Serie B.

The hosts have struggled lately but they have the attacking prowess in their ranks to solidify a playoff spot, having failed to find the net in just one of their last 26 matches in all competitions. They can sweep aside Salernitana, who have not kept a clean sheet in their last six games.

Perugia missed out on promotion last term, losing to Benevento in the playoff semi-final, but Roberto Breda’s team have stuck to the free-flowing game that has proved successful for them.

Samuel Di Carmine has 20 league goals this campaign and loan striker Alberto Cerri has netted 15 times in Serie B to propel the Griffins into contention for a long-awaited return to Serie A.

Perugia hold the records for both the biggest home win (5-0 v Carpi) and the joint-biggest away win (5-1 v Virtus Entella) in this season’s Serie B.

Their defence has struggled though and they may well be breached by Salernitana, who are fresh from a 4-2 triumph against Brescia and held Perugia 1-1 in the reverse fixture in December.

Perugia still have tough trips to champions Empoli and Bari, who are on course for the playoffs, to come, so victory in this match is paramount to their promotion chances.

Perugia to win & both teams to score
