Team news

Preston
Paul Gallagher, Daniel Johnson, Darnell Fisher, Patrick Bauer and Ben Davies are injury doubts after missing Saturday's 2-0 defeat at QPR.

Fulham
Maxime Le Marchand, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Harry Arter missed out with minor injuries at the weekend.

Match preview

Third-placed Fulham must be concerned by the eight-point gap separating them from the Sky Bet Championship's top two positions but they can apply a little more pressure by defeating injury-hit Preston at Deepdale.

The Cottagers had won four games in succession before a setback at the weekend as they lost 2-1 at home to promotion rivals Bristol City.

But there were positives to take out of that performance, which might have yielded a point had referee Jeremy Simpson not waved away strong penalty appeals when Fulham substitute Neeskens Kebano appeared to be tripped by Callum O'Dowda.

Fulham lost the game despite winning the shot count 21-12 but manager Scott Parker was rightly not too downhearted because his team have improved since the early part of the season.

The Londoners have won their last two away games and may be heading to Deepdale at a good time because Preston are under pressure after losing their last four matches without scoring.

Injuries are taking a toll on North End, who were missing first-choice centre-backs Ben Davies and Patrick Bauer and key midfielders Daniel Johnson and Paul Gallagher for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at QPR.

The result nudged Preston out of the top six for the first time since September and it will not be easy for them to get their playoff push back on track.

Alex Neil is hopeful some of his walking wounded will return soon but his team's confidence has taken a few knocks and they look vulnerable against a strong Fulham side.

Key stat

Fulham have lost just one of their last eight away matches.
