West Ham vs Nottingham Forest predictions
Nottingham Forest had to sit and suffer as top-five rivals Aston Villa and Chelsea both won on Friday and their Champions League dreams could be damaged further at the London Stadium.
Forest find themselves down in seventh, four points off the qualification pace and realistically need to win this game away to West Ham and then beat Chelsea on the final day - but even the first part of that assignment could prove too difficult.
West Ham have had a difficult Premier League season but last weekend's 2-0 win at Manchester United has raised morale going into their final home fixture.
The Hammers have won successive league games only once this term, when they followed up February's shock 1-0 victory at Arsenal with a 2-0 success at home to lowly Leicester.
A winless run of eight matches followed that victory over the Foxes although Graham Potter's men were consistently competitive during that barren spell.
Goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen either side of half-time gave West Ham a win over out-of-form Manchester United and they may be running into Forest at the right time too.
The Tricky Trees have faltered on the run-in in the competitive race for Champions League qualification, also suffering a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in last month's FA Cup semi-final.
Forest hit the woodwork three times at Wembley, and they have picked up only two points from subsequent league fixtures at home to Brentford and relegated Leicester and away at Crystal Palace.
Last weekend's 2-2 draw with the Foxes was marred by a serious injury to striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who is recovering from abdominal surgery.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis strode onto the pitch at full-time although a club statement dismissed suggestions that the Greek businessman was berating manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Their only victory in their last seven matches in all competitions came away to Nuno's former club Tottenham and they look uneasy favourites to win at West Ham, who appeal with the draw no bet after some competent performances in recent weeks.
The Hammers have been hurt by a series of crucial late goals, starting with Jake O'Brien's injury-time equaliser for Everton at Goodison Park in mid-March.
Bournemouth and Southampton also equalised late on at the London Stadium, either side of a 2-1 defeat at champions Liverpool, for whom Virgil van Dijk scored an 89th-minute winner.
West Ham lost 3-2 at Potter's former club Brighton, having led until the 89th minute, before a 1-1 draw with Tottenham and last weekend's win at Old Trafford.
Potter spoke on Friday about his desire to improve the connection between his team and the supporters so punters should expect a motivated display from the Hammers.
