Match preview

Tottenham have had a recent habit of starting games slowly before providing a second-half fightback and the trend could continue at home to Leeds.

Spurs laboured through Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup, which should be of some concern given Antonio Conte named close to his strongest 11 while Forest made nine changes.

That should offer Leeds plenty of hope, especially off the back of successive league wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth. Jesse Marsch will also be buoyed by the fact that Spurs have conceded the opening goal in each of their last seven games in all competitions.

But the Premier League is Conte’s priority and his Tottenham team often respond to his half-time urges. The north Londoners have won the second half in five of their last six starts and should be finishing this match the stronger too.

Tottenham have scored 18 of their 27 Premier League goals this season in the second half.
