Match preview
The new season brings a renewed sense of optimism for fans and punters alike, but any hope Fulham had may be short-lived when they entertain title hopefuls Liverpool in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.
The Cottagers have taken just eight points from the big-six clubs in their last three Premier League campaigns and Jurgen Klopp’s visitors showed in last weekend's Community Shield that they can hurt teams in a variety of ways.
New signing Darwin Nunez has been the name on everyone's lips this summer as far as the Reds are concerned, but the Uruguayan started on the bench against Manchester City last week and may be eased into English football by Klopp.
Nunez joined Liverpool from the Portuguese top flight which was also the path taken by Luis Diaz, who made an major impact after joining in January and is a likely starter at Craven Cottage.
The Colombian netted 18 league goals for Porto and the Reds last term, and at 15-8 he looks a fair price to get on the scoresheet against a Fulham side whose manager Marco Silva admitted may not be fully up to speed just yet.
Another standout performer from the second half of last season was Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazil international was an integral part of the Magpies' upturn in form after his mid-season arrival from Lyon and with Jonjo Shelvey ruled out of the Toon's opener against Nottingham Forest, Guimaraes is likely to play an even greater role in Newcastle’s build up.
The 24-year-old registered seven assists for club and country last term and is fancied to open the new season with another at 5-1.
Frank Lampard won't be relishing the visit of his former club Chelsea with injuries and a lack of transfer activity giving his squad a fragile look for their season opener.
It could be a former favourite of Lampard who causes the most damage with Mason Mount fancied to be the Toffees' tormentor-in-chief.
Mount scored 11 goals and registered ten assists in the top flight last season and has been influential in pre-season for Thomas Tuchel’s side. He looks a decent price at 13-10 to score or lay on a goal at Goodison.
