Frank Lampard outwitted his former boss Jose Mourinho as his Chelsea side ran out 2-0 winners at Tottenham and were cut from evens to 1-2 for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham, who have been pushed out to 6-4 to be playing Champions League football next season after the defeat, went behind after 12 minutes to a strike from Willian, who doubled his tally from the spot near the end of the first half.

The Brazilian, a 16-1 shot to open the scoring, capitalised after VAR overturned referee Anthony Taylor to award Chelsea a penalty for Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga's high challenge on Marcos Alonso.

Heung-Min Son was dismissed in the second period for a petulant kick on Antonio Rudiger as Chelsea held on to win and establish a four-point lead over fifth-placed Sheffield United.

Manchester United are seven points adrift of the Premier League top four after losing 2-0 away to basement boys Watford, who had been 7-2 shots.

Two goals in four minutes from Ismaila Sarr and one by Troy Deeney handed the Hornets their second league win of the campaign.

They have been eased to 4-9 for the drop while United are as big as 13-2 to achieve a Champions League berth.
